The New England Patriots currently sit atop the AFC East for the first time since 2021. The Patriots hold the tie-breaker over the Buffalo Bills after defeating Buffalo in Week 5, and after the Bills lost to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 6.

While the Patriots are winning and have the easiest remaining schedule in the NFL, they are rumored to be buyers at the NFL trade deadline. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler notes that New England could make a push to acquire New York Jets running back Breece Hall.

"Team execs have also pegged the Patriots among teams that could look to add a back in the coming weeks," Fowler writes. "And good call on Hall. He has said publicly he doesn't want to be traded, but he's also on an 0-6 team, so it feels as if all bets are off."

We've seen very recently that trades within divisions aren't off the table. The Cleveland Browns traded Joe Flacco to the Cincinnati Bengals. And while the Patriots might have to pay a bit extra in terms of their trade package compared to a team outside the division, it would make sense for both sides to make a deal.

Hall is a game-changer and better than every running back the Patriots have been using. A tandem of Hall and Tre'Veyon Henderson would be very deadly, and a great addition for Drake Maye and the offense.
