Colben Landrew, one of the top shooting guards in the the 2026 class, has committed to UConn, he told Rivals.
The 6-foot-6 senior of Wheeler High School (GA) was one of the nation’s biggest stock risers this summer, rising from the No. 69 overall player in 2026 to the No. 17 overall player when Rivals’ updated their player rankings.
Landrew, a four-star recruit, chose Dan Hurley and the Huskies over a final group of Louisville, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Purdue, and Texas A&M. He also received offers from Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, and others.
Landrew on his commitment to UConn
Colben Landrew discussed his decision to choose the Huskies with Rivals.
“The reason I chose UConn was, after watching Danny Hurley’s practice, I saw how he was just so intense and how competitive he was with his team, How he was pushing his team every day, and don’t let them slack up. So I felt like ultimately I need that going into the future.”
What is attractive to Landrew about UConn?
“I’m a winner and I know that UConn wins games. They won back-to-back National Championships. I know me coming in, I want to make it far in the tournament. And I also think I can win a championship with them.”
In his own words, what type of player is UConn getting in Colben Landrew?
“I would say I’m a three-level scorer. I can rebound, pass, shoot, dribble. I’m a big wing guy. And I can also bring the ball over the court too. So probably like a two, three.”
He has a message for UConn fans.
“I’m just ready to get there. Get excited. I’m ready to go. I’m ready to go win another National Championship.”
Landrew becomes UConn’s second commitment in the 2026 cycle, joining four-star PG Junior County (No. 35 NATL).
Scouting Report
Rivals National Recruiting Analyst Jamie Shaw evaluated Landrew this summer and had this to say about his game:
There is a steady made to Colben Landrew’s game that is very appealing. He is a low usage player who gives high rewards in his game. Landrew, a former high major wide receiver recruit, has been on a clear upward trajectory. He has great length and natural instincts, especially when it comes to off ball movement and defense. He also knocks down shots consistently, playing on balance and moving with the primary initiator.
Colben Landrew’s performances steadily continue to be efficient and productive. Nothing really pops off the page with his game, but he seemingly finds himself around positive plays on both ends of the floor.
Landrew is a smooth shooter who plays with great balance. His release is quick and he moves and relocates well with the primary ball handler. The 6-foot-6 wing is an average athlete, but he understands leverage and plays angles very well. Landrew is one whose stock continues to rise.
