Dario Essugo could potentially be sidelined until January with the thigh injury he underwent surgery on in September according to reports.
Chelsea signed Essugo from Sporting Lisbon in a deal worth £18m this summer, and the youngster made his debut at the Club World Cup.
Essugo was signed to provide cover and act as an alternative for Moises Caicedo, but he’s yet to make his Premier League debut.
Dario Essugo could be out until January
The 20-year-old was named on the bench in Chelsea’s first three Premier League games, but he’s going to have to wait a while until he makes his league debut.

The Portuguese underwent surgery, and it was reported Essugo would be sidelined for around 12 weeks, however BBC Sport have reported he could potentially be out until January.
It’s a major blow for Essugo who has yet to get his Chelsea career up and running, and it means Chelsea are without their main alternative for Caicedo for a few months.
The Blues are lucky they are well stocked in midfield, but they run the risk of becoming over reliant on Caicedo if they aren’t already.
Return of Romeo Lavia a huge boost
Whilst it’s not good news about Essugo, the return of Romeo Lavia has been a major boost for the Blues, and the Belgian impressed against Liverpool.
Lavia has been plagued by injury issues since joining from Southampton, and is now in his third season at the club.

Chelsea face a similar situation as they did with Reece James and Wesley Fofana, and Lavia will have to be managed accordingly until he’s back at full fitness.
The fact he’s available is a huge positive, and it will be interesting to see how often Enzo Maresca uses him, as he’s shown when he plays how important he is.
