So far this season, Erling Haaland has fired in the goals for Manchester City. Haaland has scored 12 goals in all competitions, which makes him City’s top scorer this season by some distance. Pep Guardiola’s side does need players to step up and provide goal-scoring support for the Norwegian international. One player whose job it is to score goals for City is Omar Marmoush. Unfortunately, the Egyptian international has been out of action since the September international break due to a knee injury.
A new report indicates that Marmoush could be set to return to the pitch for Manchester City imminently. That would give the City attack a major jolt and provide Pep Guardiola with another proven goal-scoring option to unleash.
Omar Marmoush could be set to return imminently for Manchester City.
Tashan Deniran-Alleyne has reported for the Standard that Omar Marmoush was pictured without crutches as Egypt celebrated qualifying for the 2026 World Cup in the United States. Furthermore, it is reported that it isn’t immediately clear if Marmoush will be fit for Manchester City’s upcoming Premier League fixture against Everton at the Etihad Stadium this Saturday. But the fact that Marmoush is now moving freely suggests that his return from injury is imminent.
Omar Marmoush will add exactly what Pep Guardiola’s squad needs when he is fully fit.
There is little doubt that Manchester City need Omar Marmoush fit and firing. Relying solely on Erling Haaland to score in every game isn’t sustainable. It is possible for Haaland to continue his tremendous start to the new season. But Pep Guardiola’s side will be a more dangerous proposition if other players can step up and start scoring regularly alongside Haaland.
Omar Marmoush can do just that. The Egyptian international is a proven goalscorer and adds a different dimension to Manchester City’s attacking play. Marmoush’s ability to make intelligent runs in behind City’s opponents defence’s has been missed. Coupled with his finishing and ability to pick out a pass Omar Marmoush will be a welcome addition to the City squad when he is fully fit.
It seems that Omar Marmoush could be set to return from a knee injury sooner rather than later. That is good news for Manchester City who need the Egyptian international to become a genuine goalscoring option to add another dimension to their attacking play.
