Leeds United midfielder Anton Stach has won September’s JD Sports Goal of the Month award for his strike against Wolves at Molineux.
Stach’s goal - a stunning free-kick curled into the top right corner - received 71% of the fans’ vote, finishing ahead of Sean Longstaff’s effort against Bournemouth (19%). Joe Rodon and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, for their goals against Bournemouth and Wolves respectively, both received 4%, while Noah Okafor’s strike against Wolves collected 2%.
The German midfielder has impressed since arriving from Hoffenheim in the summer, making eight appearances for the Whites so far, with his first Premier League goal giving Leeds the advantage in the 3-1 win at Molineux.
After accepting the award, Stach praised the fans for their support, saying: “I’m really thankful for everyone voting. The fans are amazing, and I’ve really felt that support since joining. I’ve never scored a goal like this, so it’s a nice personal achievement, but the most important thing was the team getting the points.”
