NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport offered an update Thursday morning on Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson, who remains questionable for tonight's matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Speaking on "Good Morning Football," Rapoport said Hendrickson is "really pushing to play" despite a hip injury but described him as a "bit of a long shot" to suit up on the short turnaround from Sunday's game.
“He’s considered a bit of a long shot,” Rapoport said. ... “I’m not saying he’s got no chance, but it’s not a great chance. If you know Trey Hendrickson well, he’s absolutely dying to be out on that field.”
Hendrickson was officially designated questionable on Wednesday after appearing on the injury report earlier in the week. The Pro Bowl pass rusher has been a key piece for Cincinnati's defense, and his status will be closely watched ahead of kickoff against their AFC North rival.
The Bengals enter Thursday's contest 2-4 and could face added pressure on defense if Hendrickson is unavailable. His presence would be critical against the 4-1 Steelers and their surging offense.
