Much has been made of Marcus Rashford’s summer move to Barcelona, but so far, it has been an significant success. The forward has developed into a key player for Hansi Flick in recent weeks, and with Lamine Yamal and Raphinha still dealing with injury concerns, this will remain the case for the time being at least.

Rashford has gained plenty of plaudits for his performances, and the latest to give his take is former Barcelona and Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero. As per MD, he admitted to being impressed by how the England international has adjusted to life in Catalonia.

“Marcus Rashford’s start at Barcelona is doubly admirable. He has started very well being useful to the team with assists and goals. He has had a very good adaptation.

“Who is the one who plays as a starter or not will be decided by the manager, but it is clear that a team like Barcelona needs to have many options to be able to perform in the different competitions in which they participate.”

Marcus Rashford’s numbers at Barcelona

Rashford initially had a slow start in Catalan capital, but after the September international break, he has exploded into life. Having been given the opportunity to start amid Lamine Yamal’s injury woes, he registered at least one goal contribution in every match he started – he blanked against Getafe in a match where he appeared as a half time substitute, but he was on the mark in fixtures against Valencia, Newcastle United, Real Oviedo, Real Sociedad, Paris Saint-Germain and Sevilla.

Rashford will be keen to continue his run when Barcelona host Girona on Saturday, a match that he will almost certainly start given that Raphinha will be absent for the Catalan derby – the Brazilian could return for El Clasico, which would give Flick a big decision to make.
