In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Real Madrid are showing interest in recruiting Bayern Munich defender Dayot Upamecano. It has been stated that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the France international on a free transfer next summer.
Upamecano’s Impressive Form In The Bundesliga This Season
Upamecano has made a solid start to this campaign as he has produced a series of impressive displays for Bayern on the defensive end of the field. The French talent has played in nine matches for the Bavarian club this season across all fronts.
The 26-year-old has been a decent performer when defending inside his half and deserves some credit for making seven tackles, three blocks, five interceptions and ten clearances in the Bundesliga. He has even distributed the ball well from the back after completing 92.4% of his attempted passes in the top tier of German football (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the Allianz Arena will run out at the end of this campaign. Hence, Los Blancos could potentially sign him on a free transfer next year.

Is Upamecano A Good Fit For Real Madrid?
Upamecano is a solid tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when required and excels at playing his way out from the back.
The French sensation can use his strong 1.86m frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. However, it remains to be seen whether he can replicate his good form in La Liga.
Upamecano would no doubt improve the quality of Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso’s defence. He has what it takes to fight for regular first-team football at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in the coming years.
At 26, Upamecano has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a great fit for Los Blancos’ needs next year. He might even help the Madrid giants compete for some major honours in the future. Therefore, Alonso would be wise to go all out to bring the French defensive ace to the Spanish capital at the end of this campaign.
