Louisville at Miami, Oct. 17

Alex Bauman of the Miami Hurricanes runs with the ball after a reception,

The Hurricanes are fresh from a bye. The Cardinals are off a loss to Virginia. Louisville's record is nowhere near as impressive as it looks. Expect the ferocious Miami defense to shut down the Cardinals and for the Hurricanes to roll here. Prediction: Miami 31, Louisville 10

Memphis at UAB, Oct. 18

Oct 4, 2025; Memphis, Tennessee, USA; Memphis Tigers quarterback Brendon Lewis (2) looks to pass the ball against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane during the second half at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium.

This one should be a rout. UAB fired Trent Dilfer this week. The Tigers will roll. Prediction: Memphis 37, UAB 13

Georgia Tech at Duke, Oct. 18

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets quarterback Haynes King runs against the Virginia Tech Hokies.

The Yellow Jackets have been one of the more impressive teams in the country. With quarterback Haynes King leading a potent offense, Georgia Tech comes into this game at 6-0. The Blue Devils are 4-2 and somehow favored here. When the betting line is peculiar it usually means something could be brewing. Prediction: Georgia Tech 34, Duke 23

Texas Tech at Arizona State, Oct. 18

Texas Tech quarterback Behren Morton celebrates a Raiders touchdown.

This Big 12 matchup is quite tricky. Both schools have injury issues with their starting quarterbacks. It sounds like Sam Leavitt of the Sun Devils is week-to-week, which means he is unlikely at best. Behren Morton of the Red Raiders is day-to-day. This is a tossup and the quarterback situation will impact the game. Prediction: Texas Tech 23, Arizona State 16

Utah at BYU, Oct. 18

Oct 11, 2025; Salt Lake City, Utah, USA; Utah Utes quarterback Byrd Ficklin (15) celebrates scoring a touchdown against the Arizona State Sun Devils during the fourth quarter at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

The "Holy War" takes place in Provo with the Cougars putting their undefeated mark on the line. The Utes have been playing great football since their loss to Texas Tech. BYU has been flirting with losses, just look at last week against Arizona. The Cougars have the home field but the Utes are playing much better. Prediction: Utah 27, BYU 20

Michigan State at Indiana, Oct. 18

The Hoosiers name the score against a struggling Spartan squad. Prediction: Indiana 47, Michigan State 10

Ohio State at Wisconsin, Oct. 18

Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day watches during the second half of the NCAA football game against the Illinois Fighting Illini.

The Buckeyes are huge favorites against Wisconsin, which is in the midst of a sorry season. The Buckeyes' defense is fantastic. They have allowed 41 points all season. Ohio State should score more than that against the Badgers. Prediction: Ohio State 42, Wisconsin 10

UNLV at Boise State, Oct. 18

A Boise State Broncos fan cheers during the second half against the New Mexico Lobos.

Dan Mullen has the Rebels at 6-0 as they head into a huge Mountain West clash against Boise State. The Broncos have two losses, each to a ranked team, South Florida and Notre Dame. UNLV flirted with defeat against a weak Air Force team. The blue carpet in Boise is a big advantage here. Go with the Broncos. Prediction: Boise State 37, UNLV 31

Ole Miss at Georgia, Oct. 18

Georgia Bulldogs mascot Uga XI on the field.

The Rebels almost lost to Washington State last week. How do you say "trap game?" They had to be looking ahead to this game in Athens against the Dawgs. If a team that is undefeated is life-and-death to be beat a Cougars that that has been clobbered and allowed 59 points in two of their defeats, it is ominous. Prediction: Georgia 23, Ole Miss 20

Texas A&M at Arkansas, Oct. 18

Texas A&M Aggies quarterback Marcel Reed is hoisted in celebration after scoring a touchdown.

The Aggies visit the Razorbacks and interim coach Bobby Petrino. Arkansas will play better football under their coach but they aren't going to stop Marcel Reed and Texas A&M. Prediction: Texas A&M 37, Arkansas 17
