SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The Angelo State Rams find themselves in an unfamiliar place heading into their homecoming weekend.

Simply put, the last two weeks have been rough for the Angelo State Rams. Coming off their bye just two weeks ago, the Rams were ranked fifth in the country. After its first loss to UT Permian Basin, Angelo State dropped to 12th. More recently, the Rams dropped to 21st after last week’s loss at Texas A&M-Kingsville.

This weekend, the Rams look to give their fans something to celebrate on homecoming. That is of course, a win over the Midwestern State Mustangs. Despite the late losing streak, head coach Jeff Girsch is not hitting the panic button on the 2025 season yet.

“[Angelo State is] 4-2. if we were 2-4, maybe you look at hitting that panic button more than you are,” Girsch said. “I don’t want to do that because I live in the realistic part of things. I tell our guys the truths of how the season is… don’t hit the panic button, but understand the urgency of what needs to happen.”

Angelo State’s homecoming game versus Midwestern State begins Saturday, Oct 18 at 1st Community Credit Union Field at LeGrand Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. CST.
