SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — The Central Bobcats prepare for the latest chapter of their historic rivalry.
The Central Bobcats (3-3 overall, 0-1 district) seek their first district win of the season, but it won’t come easily as they travel to face the Odessa Permian Panthers (5-1 overall, 1-0 district).
One year ago today, Permian narrowly escaped San Angelo with a thrilling 31-29 win over the Bobcats. This time, head coach Mark Smith and his squad not only seek revenge, but to also avoid the same trap as last year. That is, losing their first three district games. All history aside, Smith and his team are ready to go. The Bobcats are ready to fight and embrace Permian’s unique atmosphere.
“We’ve got multiple ways to be able to communicate things whenever noise becomes an issue that we do practice on a regular basis,” Smith said. “But, I think that creates more excitement when you go in somewhere and the stadium is full of people wearing the colors that you’re not wearing.”
The Bobcats and Panthers resume their historic rivalry tonight at Ratliff Stadium in Odessa, Texas. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CST.
