The Ole Miss Rebels appear to be on their way to competing for an SEC title for the first time in school history. At 6-0, they’re set to face No. 9 Georgia on the road in a huge Week 8 matchup.

One of the team’s biggest surprises this season has been quarterback Trinidad Chambliss. He began the year as the backup behind starter Austin Simmons, but after Simmons suffered an ankle injury in Week 3 against Kentucky, the offense became Chambliss’ to command.

Through five games, Chambliss has thrown for 1,286 yards, seven touchdowns, and just one interception, while adding three rushing scores. Before transferring to Ole Miss, he spent the first four seasons of his career at Division II Ferris State.

Here’s a look at Chambliss’ eligibility and how many seasons of college football he has left.

How old is Trinidad Chambliss?

Chambliss is 23 years old, born Aug. 24, 2002. But for the quarterback, achieving success this late in his career is no problem for him.

"Honestly, I feel like I was just a late bloomer," Chambliss said in a recent ESPN interview. "Growing up, I wasn't the biggest guy. I wasn't the strongest kid. Coming out of high school, going into my freshman year of college, I was probably 6 feet, like 175 pounds, so a little scrawny kid. I'm not the biggest guy. When coaches look at you out of high school, they say the eye test, and I didn't fit the eye test."

Chambliss is the oldest quarterback on Ole Miss' roster, edging out senior Shawqi Itraish, who was born in Nov. 2022.
