Some of Liverpool’s current stars will see their contracts expire in summer 2026.

Most pressing is the case of Ibrahima Konate. The Frenchman signed for the Reds back in 2021 - on a £35m deal from RB Leipzig. But if no new deal is agreed then he will be walking out the door for nothing.

Fellow defender Andy Robertson is also out of contract in 2026. The 31-year-old was first choice left-back at Anfield from 2017 until the start of this season when he lost his place in the lineup.

Sporting director Richard Hughes opted to sign Milos Kerkez on a £40m deal from former club Bournemouth - pushing Robbo out of the starting XI.

Atletico Madrid want Robertson

Although he’s had his opportunities owing to Kerkez’s errors, it doesn’t appear that the Scotland captain has got a long-term future on Merseyside.

The left-back was linked with a move to Atletico Madrid over the course of the summer transfer window - but elected to stay put and fight for his place. There were also reports that Diego Simeone’s side weren’t keen to pay a transfer fee for Robbo.

However with his contract expiring the Liverpool vice-captain is once again back on the Spanish capital club’s radar. That’s according to a new report in Fichajes, which claims that Atleti are now set to take advantage of his expiring contract.

Atletico Madrid value Robertson's leadership

"Atlético de Madrid is closely monitoring the situation,” the report reads.

“Atlético could take advantage of the opportunity to bring him in at no transfer fee.

“Atlético Madrid value this versatility and leadership to strengthen an area that has traditionally been vulnerable at the Colchoneros.”

Robertson joined Liverpool from Hull City back in 2017 - going on to win two Premier League titles, the Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup and multiple other honours.
