Gent move the catalyst for winger’s return to the Polish national team

It is fair to say that Michał Skóraś’ move to Club Brugge two summers ago just did not work out for either side. The now 25-year-old earned the move to Belgium off the back of a fantastic year with Lech Poznan in which he played over 50 games with 16 goals and four assists. Despite making 90 appearances for Club Brugge over a two year period, Skóraś was unable to become a regular and left this past summer with six goals.

Gent decided to take a chance on Skóraś and keep him in the Belgian Pro League. So far, this has proven to be a shrewd piece of business from the Buffaloes. They have inherited a hungry player who clearly has a point to prove. The arrival of Skóraś appears to have been a catalyst for Gent’s upturn in form, with the Polish winger having scored twice and grabbed three assists in just five appearances.

The players form for Gent did not go unnoticed elsewhere either. Skóraś was recalled to the Polish national team was a starter for the national team in their most recent two internationals. Skóraś played over 70 minutes in a friendly win over New Zealand and the full 90 in their crucial World Cup Qualification victory over Lithuania.

Gent will now be hoping that Skóraś can continue his fine run of form and really help the side push for a top six finish and a return to European football. First up is an away trip to a Zulte Waregem side that have looked capable since their return to the Pro League this season.
