German basketball national team coach Alex Mumbru has been discharged from hospital in his native Spain after undergoing treatment there for four weeks.

"I am feeling better. Today I am going home, no more hospital," the Bild paper quoted him as saying on Friday.

Mumbru was hospitalised in Finland with pancreatitis two days before the start of the recent European championships and missed the full group stage. He returned for the last-16 match but was not fit enough and handed the reins back to assistant Alan Ibrahimagic who led the team to the title.

Mumbru went to Barcelona for treatment the day after the September 14 final, and he is supposed to rest more now before taking charge of the world champions again.

Germany's next matches are World Cup qualifiers against Israel on November 28 and in Cyprus three days later. Croatia are the other team in the group.
