Real Madrid are planning to sign a new central defender during next summer’s transfer window, and they want to do so at zero cost. They have lined up a number of targets, and one of them will definitely be available as a free agent.
In recent weeks, it has been confirmed that Real Madrid hold an interest in Marc Guehi, who has also attracted interest from the likes of Liverpool and Barcelona. Next June, the 25-year-old is out of contract at Crystal Palace, and according to manager Oliver Glasner (via Empire Of The Kop), it has been decided that he will depart upon its expiry.
“I think Marc has already told us that he doesn’t sign a new contract, so he will leave next year. The club wanted [him to stay]. We offered Marc a new contract but he said, ‘No, I want to make something different’, and that’s normal.
“For us, it’s how we can deal with this situation. [What] is the best way to get this next step done? That’s all about how we are talking together.”

Guehi would be a top signing for Real Madrid
Real Madrid are also monitoring the situations of Ibrahima Konate and Dayot Upamecano at Liverpool and Bayern Munich respectively, but there is reasons to suggest that Guehi should be the player they seek to sign. He has been performing at a very high level over the last 2-3 years, and he has now forced himself into the England starting line-up ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
Guehi would be very interesting in joining Real Madrid, so if an offer were to come his way, there is a good chance that he would end up at the Santiago Bernabeu next summer – and in the process, he’d become the third Englishman in four years to arrive.
