There is nothing more important for the New York Giants this season than the development of quarterback Jaxson Dart. That's why Big Blue needs to add another wide receiver before the trade deadline.

The New York Giants have new life in their 2025 campaign thanks to rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart.
The Giants are 2-1 in Dart's three starts and the rookie signal-caller has been impressive and led the charge in the upset win over the Philadelphia Eagles.
The problem is Dart is working with a shaky group of receivers after the season-ending injury to Malik Nabers, which leaves Wan'Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton, who is currently injured, as his top-two targets.
With Dart's development being paramount, especially when it comes to the futures of head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen, both of whom are on the hot seat, New York should look to make an addition to the position ahead of the trade deadline.
New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave should be at the top of the list of trade targets for the Giants and Caleb Yaccarino of Canal Street Chronicles is a believer in a possible Olave trade.
He proposed a trade between New York and New Orleans that would send Olave to the Giants for a 2026 second-round pick and a 2027 third-round pick.
Trying to figure out the Saints’ decision-making in this process is not easy, but just looking at this from an outside perspective could make it obvious. Rashid Shaheed is already 27 and has not been a WR1 yet. This makes the potential contract extension much cheaper than extending Chris Olave. Also, trading Olave would get the Saints much better draft capital from a contending team, and the concussion history is a worry. No matter what, this is going to be a risky move, but trading Olave when his value is still high should be the move.
The Saints are 1-5 and set for another disappointing season. The team should sell off some pieces to help kickstart a rebuild and Olave is one of its most valuable assets.
Olave is a two-time 1,000-yard wide receiver who has routinely been dealt a bad hand when it comes to his quarterbacks. There is no doubt he has elite potential.
Adding Olave would be an ideal move for Big Blue.
Not only does he give Dart a true No. 1 wide receiver for the rest of this season, but Olave is under contract in 2026, so he'll form an elite duo with Nabers next season. Olave is also just 25 years old, so he could be a long-term solution that gives Dart one of the best one-two punches in the NFL for years to come.
Yaccarino's suggested package is probably richer than what it'll take to acquire the Saints wideout, but it might not be that far off considering New Orleans isn't really in any rush to deal him because Olave isn't in a contract year. There will also be plenty of teams vying for his services, which will drive up the price.
If Olave does hit the trade block, the Giants should be aggressive in trying to bring him in.
