Nottingham Forest slumped to a humiliating 3-0 loss against Chelsea in Saturday’s Premier League encounter.

The Tricky Trees played well until half-time, but Enzo Maresca’s second-half substitutions changed the game as Josh Acheampong, Pedro Neto and Reece James all scored to secure a comfortable victory for the visitors.

The latest defeat means Forest have not won a top-flight game since the 3-1 home success against Brentford on the opening weekend.

Forest appointed Ange Postecoglou as their head coach in September following the controversial dismissal of Nuno Espirito Santo

It is barely over a month since the Australian boss arrived at the City Ground, but the club must make a change in the dugout.

Results have been dismal and they are fighting to avoid relegation to the Championship.

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis showed restraint during the international break, but we know the Greek is not afraid to make swift changes if he feels things are not working.

BBC Sport recently reported the club have already started making contingency plans in case the Austrian boss leaves the City Ground.

Postecoglou must be sacked

Nuno led Forest to a seventh-placed finish last season, securing them European football for the first time in three decades.

But their fortunes have dramatically reversed this season, as they are battling relegation after registering just five points from eight matches.

Forest should never have appointed Postecoglou in the first place, as he favours high-pressing, attacking style of play, which is a drastic shift from Nuno’s pragmatic, defense-first approach.

The 60-year-old has a proven track record of winning trophies at his former clubs.

He helped Yokohama F. Marinos to win the J1 League title in 2019 before delivering five trophies during his two-year stint at Celtic, including two Scottish Premierships.

Postecoglou ended Tottenham Hotspur’s 17-year trophy drought by leading them to Europa League success in 2025.

But it is quite clear that things are not working for him at Forest. The club needs a coach like Sean Dyche who is defensive minded and can secure them a mid-table status.
