Corner Terrion Arnold is unlikely to play Monday for the Detroit Lions vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers despite practicing on a limited basis Friday.
Terrion Arnold's return to practice was short-lived.
Arnold did not practice Saturday, Oct. 18, after returning from a shoulder injury Friday, and Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell said the second-year cornerback likely will not play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
"I don’t see him Monday," Campbell said. "That was just get him out there, move him around in individual. He’s still got a little bit to go here, make sure that he’s ready or can be ready to produce, protect himself, all of that. But he’s improving. That’s a positive sign."
Arnold injured his shoulder in the Lions' Week 5 win over the Cincinnati Bengals and sat out last week's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. He practiced on a limited basis Friday for the first time since his injury.
Campbell said previously he expects Arnold to return after next week's bye.
The Lions (4-2) will be down at least three starters in their secondary Monday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7 p.m.; ABC, ESPN) with Arnold and cornerback D.J. Reed (hamstring) dealing with injuries and safety Brian Branch suspended.
Campbell said the team will make a decision on safety Kerby Joseph's status closer to kickoff. Joseph missed his sixth straight practice Saturday with a knee injury he suffered in Week 5.
"Time could help," Campbell said. "So we’ll see, but look, there’s a lot of guys, too, that are dealing with a lot of things and you can’t have every player – you can’t lose every guy so you just got to gauge where some of them are at. Some of them are worse than others and he’s dealing with something and it’s affecting him right now so we’ve just got to get it to calm down, help him."
The Lions could get left tackle Taylor Decker back in the lineup after a two-game absence due to a shoulder injury.
Decker did not practice Saturday after working on a limited basis the past two days.
Running back Sione Vaki (groin) and safety Avonte Maddox (hamstring) also did not practice.
