German manager’s red card and “offensive gesture” could lead to multi-match ban before Real Madrid clash
(Video) Hansi Flick Faces Extended Ban for "Obscene Gesture" After 91st Minute Dismissal
As if Barcelona's crippling injury list wasn't enough, Hansi Flick has just handed the club new headache ahead of the season's biggest game.
The manager won't be in the dugout for the El Clasico showdown on 26 October. He earned himself red card and automatic suspension after being sent off in the chaotic dying seconds of their 2-1 win against Girona.
The German manager’s dismissal and his behaviour afterwards could lead to further disciplinary action potentially extending his suspension beyond the Real Madrid match.
A couple minutes before Araujo's winner, Hansi Flick was given a second yellow card and was sent off.

Chaos in stoppage time
The incident unfolded deep into added time at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys. Flick reacted angrily when referee Jesus Gil Manzano added only 4 minute of stoppage time despite multiple delays in 2nd half.
Flick’s protests earned him 2nd yellow card and automatic red in the 91 minute. But instead of leaving the technical area immediately, the Barca coach stayed in the players tunnel to watch the dying moments of the match.
When Ronald Araujo scored dramatic winner in the 93 minute, Flick sprinted out of the tunnel to celebrate and was caught on camera making obscene hand gesture towards the referee , an act that will now be reviewed by La Liga’s disciplinary committee.

Possible multi match suspension
Under Spanish football regulations, Flick’s behaviour could see him face multi game ban potentially ruling him out of not just El Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu but also several subsequent fixtures.
That would leave Barcelona without their head coach on the touchline during crucial period of the season adding to growing list of absentees that already includes multiple key players through injury.
