Guernsey FC manager Tony Vance says his side could have scored more goals in their 3-0 victory over Staplehurst Monarchs in the FA Vase.

The Green Lions - who came into the game having been involved in a club-record 7-6 win at Shoreham on Tuesday - impressed as they moved into the second round.

Jacob Fallaize headed Guernsey in front from a 33rd-minute corner before Ross Allen made it 2-0 with a penalty in first-half stoppage time.

Ben Solway nodded in the third after an hour as he scored his first goal for the island club.

"We deserved a lot more goals. It was nice to get that second just before half-time because 1-0 didn't really do it justice," Vance told BBC Radio Guernsey.

"What we try and do is get as many final third entries as we can, get as many crosses into the box as we can.

"We're doing that, the difficult thing is obviously putting the ball in the back of the net, but if you keep knocking on the door then you're going to get in eventually.

"It was a 3-0 win, and a dominant 3-0, but I don't think anyone could have denied that seven or eight would have been fair."

Guernsey are playing in the FA Vase for the first time since 2013 after relegation from the Isthmian league at the end of last season.

The islanders reached the semi-finals of the competition when they were last in it, but Vance says fans should not dream of Wembley just yet.

"I think everyone's getting excited and it's natural because the prize is immense, but we're miles off so we can just keep enjoying it," he added.

"When we got to semi-finals back in 2013 we had a good team then, but we also got a lot of luck with our draws and the fixtures, so we need that.

"We've had a couple of home games which is great - it'd be nice if we get another one and that's what you need to get through.

"But we'll always keep our feet on the ground, I will anyway for sure, because I've been here a long time and I know what it's like."
