Week 7 game balls: Few silver linings from a cloudy day for Saints at Chicago

There weren't many silver linings on such a cloudy day in Chicago. Highlighting the few positives from a miserable Saints loss to the Bears:

It was an embarrassing display from the New Orleans Saints in their 26-14 loss at the Chicago Bears on Sunday. The Saints showed few signs of life offensively and even less on the defensive side. Chicago tore through a pathetic New Orleans defense for 222 yards and 6.6 per carry on the ground. On offense, the Saints picked up a total of only 253 yards, with 164 of those coming in two consecutive drives.

Frankly, if Chicago was a good team, they win this game by maybe 30 points. With that, there isn't many positive things to take out of this for New Orleans. Albeit a massive reach, here are the two best performers from the Saints side.

Chase Young

The fact that ''Mr. Almost'' earns a game ball from doing what he always does is an indication of just how poorly this game went. Young had two nice pass breakups, almost coming up with big interceptions. He had six legitimate pressures, almost coming up with multiple sacks aside from the half sack he shared with Bryan Bresee.Young was the most effective New Orleans defender on this day, which isn't saying much. He also caused a false start from the Bears early in the game. Unfortunately, Young's solid outing also didn't result in big plays to change momentum. It's the story of his career.

Quincy Riley

While the Saints were giving the ball away like it was Halloween candy, Riley forced the only turnover from the New Orleans defense with a well-timed first quarter interception. Riley also was the biggest standout in another uneven effort from the secondary. He gave up only one meaningful completion where he was the closest in coverage. The Bears have two good wideouts in Rome Odunze and D.J. Moore. They combined for 5 catches and 74 yards, with all but one of those catches coming elsewhere in the secondary. It isn't much for the Saints to hang their hat on, but the rookie Riley is at least one legitimate positive to take out of a miserable performance.
