The Carolina Panthers have an injury concern with quarterback Bryce Young after the team's Week 7 win over the New York Jets.
Young exited in the third quarter due to an ankle injury and did not return for the rest of the contest. He was replaced by backup Andy Dalton, who managed to close out the 13-6 win over the Jets.
After the game, head coach Dave Canales confirmed that Young is dealing with a right ankle injury.
"We're evaluating for the right ankle," Panthers head coach Dave Canales said. "So we're taking all the information and we're going to look at him when we get home some more, and see where we're at."
Young was then spotted wearing a walking boot upon leaving the stadium, which is a bad sign for his Week 8 availability. It appears that Young is dealing with an ankle sprain, ESPN's David Newton said.
However, there is some good news, as Joe Person of The Athletic reported that X-rays were negative on Young's ankle, so it appears he has avoided a serious injury.
Panthers running back Rico Dowdle also noted how a conversation with Young showed him the quarterback's injury isn't too bad.
That said, none of that means he won't have to miss at least a game with his injury.
We should get an update on Young from Canales on Monday, and then the Panthers will release their first injury report of the week on Wednesday.
