What started as a back-and-forth battle between Fairport and Thomas ended with a dominant win for the Red Raiders.

The two teams traded threes down to the final second of the first quarter, as Fairport’s Gannon Culver hit a buzzer-beater to make it 18-18.

The last-second shot gave Fairport some momentum, pulling ahead to lead 39-29 at the half.

The Red Raiders went on a 9-0 run to start the third quarter and never looked back. They led 59-34 with the final frame to play.

Fairport (1-0) will host Schroeder on Friday, December 12. Thomas (1-1) will host Spencerport on the same evening.

Brighton 59, Vertus 49

Brighton picked up its second win of the season with a victory over Vertus.

It was a close game through the first half, as Brighton led just 34-31 at the break.

The Bruins remained in front after the third, leading 49-44, then outscored Vertus 10-5 in the fourth quarter to come away with the win.

Daniel Regan led Brighton with 12 points, followed by Tim Tourangeau with 11.

Vertus’ Terrance Marble led all scorers with 19 points. JW Wester tallied 12.

Brighton (2-0) will travel to Irondequoit on Friday, December 12. Vertus (2-2) will host Padilla on Thursday, December 11.
