A new report from Defensa Central has revealed that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has personally stepped in to support Xabi Alonso during one of the most difficult stretches of his early managerial tenure.

With pressure reaching a boiling point and a decisive clash against Manchester City looming, Perez felt it necessary to deliver a message designed to steady Alonso ahead of what could be a defining moment in his future at the club.

Tonight’s match against Manchester City is not just another Champions League fixture, as it carries the weight of a test that could determine whether Alonso continues at the helm of Real Madrid.

The club’s hierarchy is fully aware of this, and the atmosphere around the team has reflected the tension building in recent days.

The 0–2 defeat to Celta Vigo last Sunday has left deep scars across the institution, triggering internal concerns about results, injuries and overall team performance.

According to the report, the president approached the manager with a clear intention to ease his anxiety and reinforce his confidence ahead of the critical encounter.

As part of his message, Perez told Alonso: “I don’t want to see you stressed, we’re going to win for sure tomorrow, we have faith in all of you…”

These words, delivered privately, highlight Perez’s belief that a united front is essential before facing Manchester City, a side arriving fresh from a dominant 3–0 win over Sunderland in the Premier League.

Even with Perez’s support, the weight on Alonso’s shoulders remains substantial.

This is because Real Madrid’s season has been repeatedly disrupted by injuries to key players, undermining the team’s consistency and limiting tactical options.

With the stakes rising and Real Madrid battling uncertainty on multiple fronts, the meeting with Manchester City now represents more than a quest for points.
