The 15th set of Rivals National High School Football Composite Rankings of the 2025 season and Georgia’s Carrollton has unseated IMG Academy (Fla.) as the country’s top team, with No. 2  Southlake Carroll (TX) and St. Frances Academy (Md.) as the new No. 3 just behind them, respectively.

As the the high school football season has the rest of this week and next to finish out as California, Connecticut, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, North Carolina and Texas are now at the state championship stages of their respective campaigns. Which teams make their way in this week’s set of rankings?

Below are the top-25 teams in the Rivals National High School Football Composite Rankings, a proprietary algorithm that compiles rankings listed in the public domain by respected media and data companies. It includes Massey, MaxPreps, ESPN and SI, creating the industry’s most comprehensive and geographically balanced ranking.

1. Carrollton Trojans (Ga.)

Carrollton (Ga.) (14-0) now takes over having quite possibly the toughest roads to a state title of any team in the country and that road to prosperity has earned them the top spot in the latest Rivals Composite rankings.

The Trojans have barreled through the GHSA Class 6A playoffs as they toyed with Georgia’s No. 7 ranked North Gwinnett, beating them 48-21, advancing to the state championship game to face No. 4 Buford next week on Tuesday night at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Playing some of the best ball out of any running back in the entire country is senior Cameron Wood, who has rushed for 1,473 on 174 carries and scoring 33 touchdowns. Freshman signal caller Christian Cypher has been terrific in taking over for Julian Lewis, throwing for 2,178 yards, 26 touchdowns and only three mere interceptions.

2. Southlake Carroll Dragons (TX)

The Southlake Carroll Dragons (14-0) continued their dominant run of being Texas’ top high school football team as they bullied Guyer, 51-19, in last week’s Class 6A, Division II state quarterfinals.

There’s not many offenses nationally that are scoring at the clip that the Dragons are, with Southlake Carroll averaging 51.8 points per game behind the play of Pittsburgh commit Angelo Renda (3,984yards, 41 touchdowns) guiding the offensive unit. Ohio State pledge Brock Boyd (83 catches, 1,387 yards) and Blake Gunter (61 catches, 1,113 yards) have both been playing well at wide receiver for the Dragons.

Southlake Carroll heads into the state semifinal of the postseason against a red-hot DeSoto squad, last game before reaching Texas’ UIL state championships at AT&T Stadium. Can the Dragons get by an Eagles team that’s playing their best ball at the right time?

3. St. Frances Academy Panthers (Md.)

St. Frances Academy (7-1) will get the chance after all to show the country that they’re the No. 1 team in the country when they take on Corner Canyon tonight in Baltimore for the first-ever Overtime Nationals high school football championship.

The Panthers’ most impressive win of the season was the opener when they cruised to a 42-13 thrashing of Chaminade-Madonna Prep (Fla) at the Broward County Classic. The Panthers’ lone loss this season came when they traveled across the country to take on No. 1 St. John Bosco and narrowly lost in a 21-14 decision.

The Panthers latest win was a 35-0 defeat of Virginia’s No. 1 ranked The St. James Academy in Baltimore. With all the time off since Nov. 1, how will the Panthers fair against the Chargers, which will be coming off winning Utah’s Class 6A state championship?

4. Buford Wolves (Ga.)

Buford’s (14-0) last week took on the country’s winningest high school football program in the land in the Valdosta Wildcats, beating the South Georgia squad, 39-7.

Now Buford will now face Carrollton in next week’s GHSA Class 6A state championship game. Could this be the de facto national championship game people are eyeing?

First victory to start the 2025 season was a meeting with No. 18 Milton, with the Wolves coming away with a 20-13 victory on national television. The Wolves then the following week hit the road to Savannah to face a very good Benedictine Military School squad and won by multiple scores. All of the impressive wins littered along the Wolves’ schedule leaves many wondering if Buford could be the team to beat for Georgia’s Class 6A state championship when it’s all said and done against potentially Carrollton (see further above).

5. IMG Academy Ascenders (Fla.)

The IMG Academy Ascenders (9-0) season is effectively over for 2025 as they announced last week that their rivalry game with No. 2 ranked St. Frances Academy (Md.) will not be rescheduled. What looked like a potential de facto national championship game goes to the way side as high school football fans won’t get to see what could’ve been between the two teams.

Their last game on the gridiron of the season, the Ascenders went back up to New Jersey for the second time this season and defeated Hun School, 31-13.

Now the question must be has IMG Academy done enough to maintain their No. 1 ranking for the rest of 2025 with just nine games?

6. Bishop Gorman Gaels (Nev.)

Ever since losing to No. 13 ranked Mater Dei back on Sep. 19, the Bishop Gorman Gaels (12-1) have won and shut out every team in their path except for two. The Gaels capped their 2025 season last week in the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA) Open Division championship, handily defeating Arbor View, 44-7.

The Gaels a few weeks ago was able to come away with a 14-0 win over the Santa Margarita Eagles, bouncing back from their lone loss of the season against Mater Dei (Calif.). Hawaii commitment Maika Eugenio ended his season with one of the top seasons for any passer in the state of Nevada, throwing for 2,760 yards and 37 touchdowns.

It was a forgone conclusion that the Gaels were destined to win another Nevada state championship, but that’s not the ultimate goal for this program as they always continue to remain in the national title picture.

7. Edna Karr Cougars (La.)

The Edna Karr Cougars (13-0) needed every play of last week’s LHSAA Division I Select state semifinals to edge out Catholic as they ended up coming away with the 17-10 victory.

Edna Karr will now face St. Augustine, a team they beat earlier in the season, 42-21, for the state championship. The Cougars also owns an impressive wins over Florida’s American Heritage, 24-17, from earlier in the season when they met in New Orleans and versus New Orleans Jesuit, a 41-0 decision.

There’s not many defenses that feature the kind of star power the Cougars do across the board. Edna Karr’s front seven is led by LSU four-star defensive tackle commit Richard Anderson and the secondary is stacked with Division I talent.

8. Santa Margarita Catholic Eagles (Calif.)

Making their way in after a masterful performance in the CIF Southern Section Division I championship game is the Santa Margarita Catholic Eagles (10-3).

In Carson Palmer‘s first year at the helm of his alma mater, the former NFL quarterback returned to where he started his journey as a footballer and helped lift Santa Margarita Catholic into national prominence.

Leading his club to a 42-7 thrashing of No. 10 Centennial was one of the latest pieces of evidence one may need in wondering could this team quite possibly be the best three-loss high school football team we’ve seen in recent memory?

Don’t forget, Palmer and crew have one more game remaining against No. 16 De La Salle for the state’s overall championship this Saturday night.

9. Allen Eagles (TX)

Outside of an early scare in the UIL, Class 6A, Division I playoffs, the Allen Eagles (14-0) have proven themselves as the next most consistent team in the state next to Southlake Carroll.

The Eagles made easy work of Permian last week in a 56-13 drubbing and followed it up with a convincing 33-21 victory over the defending state champion North Crowley Panthers.

Allen has used a very effective two-quarterback system between senior Jeremiah Daoud and freshman Ty Snell, which has worked wonders this season. Between the two signal callers, they have combined to throw for nearly 3,700 yards and 38 touchdowns this season.

10. St. John Bosco Braves (Calif.)

St. John Bosco (9-2) had dropped out of the top 10 of the Rivals National High School Football Composite Rankings after finishing the season with losses to rival Mater Dei and Orange Lutheran, respectively.

Despite the back-to-back losses, the Braves had otherwise been nothing less than impressive throughout the regular season, with impressive victories along the way over St. Frances Academy (Md.) and St. Louis (HI), respectively. Texas A&M commit Madden Williams was terrific for St. John Bosco throughout the 2025 season, catching 41 passes for 804 yards and 10 touchdowns. Another player that’s had a huge fall is sophomore quarterback Koa Malau’ulu, who has thrown for 2,361 yards and 33 scores.
