Atlanta Braves news and notes from Tuesday.
The MLB Draft Lottery took place on Tuesday evening, and the Atlanta Braves unfortunately slipped a few spots. Heading into the lottery, Atlanta had the sixth-best odds. Instead, the Braves will have the ninth overall pick in the 2026 draft.
The Chicago White Sox will pick first, followed by the Tampa Bay Rays and Minnesota Twins.

With the Winter Meetings underway, it has been rumored that the Braves have interest in utility player Willi Castro, who has also drawn interest from the Colorado Rockies and Pittsburgh Pirates.
ESPN’s Buster Olney reported that the Braves are mainly focused on pitching this offseason.

The Philadelphia Phillies have reportedly extended an offer to catcher J.T. Realmuto. The details of the offer have not been disclosed. The club already re-signed Kyle Schwarber on a five-year contract.
The Detroit Tigers re-signed closer Kyle Finnegan to a two-year, $19M contract. He is also eligible for an additional $1M in bonuses.
The Pittsburgh Pirates agreed to a one-year, $7.75M deal with lefty Gregory Soto.
The Los Angeles Angels acquired former Brave Vaughn Grissom in a trade with the Boston Red Sox.
The Los Angeles Dodgers agreed to a three-year, $69M contract with Edwin Diaz. The contract includes $4.5M in deferred money.
