Will the Mets make any picks or lose any players?
Major League Baseball is set to hold the Rule 5 draft at 2 PM EST today, and the Mets will be making the eighteenth pick in it thanks to their 83-79 record during the 2025 season. The complete order of the draft is as follows:

Teams that select a player in that phase must pay his former team $100,000 and keep him on their active MLB roster for the entire 2026 season. The player cannot be sent to the Minors without first clearing waivers and then getting offered back to his original organization for $50,000. Fifteen players were taken in the major league portion of the 2024 Rule 5 Draft, with only three players actually sticking with their new team for the entire season: RHP Shane Smith, who was selected by the Chicago White Sox from the Milwaukee Brewers, C Liam Hicks, who was selected by the Miami Marlins from the Detroit Tigers, and Angel Bastardo, who was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays from the Boston Red Sox.
