Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard revealed his take that Real Madrid’s players did not perform like a group who have given up on their manager against Manchester City this evening.
This of course comes fresh off another outing to forget for Los Blancos on the continent.
Real marked their return to action a short time ago, welcoming Pep Guardiola’s Man City to Spain’s capital for a Champions League clash.
When all was said and done, the evening’s hosts were condemned to the wrong side of a 2-1 result, after surrendering a first-half advantage in sloppy fashion.
The pressure on the shoulders of the under-fire Xabi Alonso has in turn only continued to mount.
As alluded to above, though, one individual of the opinion that Alonso’s players did not perform as though they have thrown in the towel on their manager is former teammate Steven Gerrard.
Speaking as part of his punditry role for TNT Sports following the full-time whistle at the Santiago Bernabéu, ex-midfielder Gerrard assured:
“That was not a performance of players that want their manager out.”
