“Lady” Mir is coming.

It’s always interesting when MMA prodigies begin their rise, and Bella Mir — daughter of former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight champion Frank Mir — absolutely fits that mold. But despite the hype, her transition to full-time MMA has been a slow, deliberate process for the 22-year-old.

So when is she finally committing full-time?

The answer is pretty simple: whenever her dad says so.

“I think it’s whatever dad says,” Mir told MMAMania.com today. “I honestly don’t know. If dad says this next one over the next summer, or do one more, then go to the Contender Series — obviously the UFC would be the next step. I think it’s just whatever he thinks is the right move. I’m always listening to what he has to say.”

Father knows best, right?

Bella’s intentions have always been clear: finish her college wrestling career while continuing to compete in Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) and MMA, then make her move toward the UFC. She’s currently deep into her junior-year wrestling season with several major tournaments on deck.

“Wrestling is going good, I’m in the middle of the season right now,” Mir said. “Next tournament is [Ken Kraft] Midlands at University of Illinois and if you win that, you’re really, really good. Then the national duals are in January — that’s important because that’s who the best team is — and then obviously, NCAA’s in March. I’ve got a pretty busy three months coming up.”

Mir improved to 4-0 in MMA this past summer with a nasty hammerlock finish (watch highlights) and will compete tomorrow against Rana Willink at UFC BJJ 4.

With Bella headed into her senior year, it feels like only a matter of time before she aims to carry on her father’s legacy — while carving out one of her own in the MMA world.
