Michigan Next Head Coach Odds: Kalen DeBoer Favored After Sherrone Moore’s Firing

After Sherrone Moore was fired amid misconduct allegations, Michigan’s next head coach odds list Kalen DeBoer as the favorite. Full odds and contenders.

Michigan’s football program is back in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.

Following the sudden firing of head coach Sherrone Moore — who was dismissed and arrested after reports of an inappropriate relationship — the Wolverines have launched an unexpected coaching search just months after Moore replaced Jim Harbaugh.

Sportsbooks have already reacted, installing Kalen DeBoer as the early betting favorite to become the next Michigan head coach, with several high-profile college and NFL candidates also moving up the odds board.

Alabama Kalen Deboer

Kalen DeBoer sits atop the odds board thanks to his proven ability to win at the highest level and stabilize elite programs.

Alabama’s return to the College Football Playoff under his leadership reaffirmed his reputation as one of the game’s premier tacticians and culture builders.

With Michigan seeking a steady, championship-caliber presence after Moore’s dismissal, DeBoer naturally headlines the list of potential successors.

Washington Jedd Fisch

Jedd Fisch brings one of the strongest blended résumés in the field, pairing a deep NFL background with impressive collegiate turnarounds.

His recent success at Washington — maintaining high offensive efficiency and talent development across multiple transitions — has cemented him as a trusted program steward.

If Michigan prioritizes experience, adaptability, and proven leadership across both levels, Fisch fits that profile extremely well.

Arizona State Kenny Dillingham

Kenny Dillingham is the high-upside swing on the board, and recent results justify his inclusion.

Arizona State’s surprise College Football Playoff berth last season and an 8–4 follow-up this year highlighted his ability to elevate talent, modernize an offense, and generate momentum within a program that lacked it for years.

If Michigan leans toward a long-term offensive visionary rather than a traditional hire, Dillingham becomes a very real candidate.

Why Sherrone Moore was fired

Sherrone Moore was fired by the University of Michigan after an internal investigation found credible evidence he engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member, violating school policy.

Shortly after his dismissal, Moore was arrested by police in Saline, Michigan.

The investigation is still ongoing.
