Dom Hyam urged his Wrexham team-mates to "stick together" after their nine-game unbeaten run in the Championship was ended by Hull City.

Phil Parkinson's side suffered just a second league defeat in 15 matches as Kyle Joseph and Oli McBurnie netted either side of Kieffer Moore's missed penalty at the MKM Stadium on Wednesday night.

"It's very disappointing. We've been on a good run but we're very disappointed with the performance today. We just gave ourselves too much to do after the first half," the defender told BBC Sport Wales.

"We spoke about it at half time about how we were still in the game but moments change games.

"Unfortunately we weren't able to get the equaliser. But we weren't at the races today."

He added: "We've just got to stick together. You don't have to play well to get chances in this league.

"We could have come away with something out of the game but it wasn't to be. We need to raise the standards again."

Defeat by the Tigers saw Wrexham slip to 14th in the Championship table, although the Red Dragons are just four points adrift of the play-off places after 20 league matches of the campaign.

And Hyam feels the club's season as a whole so far should give Wrexham enough confidence to put things right when they return to action against Watford at the Stok Cae Ras on Saturday (15:00 GMT).

"We've been on a really good run, we've got to add some perspective as well, we've come up from the division below and we've done well up until this point," added the 29-year-old.

"Don't get me wrong, we're still bitterly disappointed with that tonight but it's a good opportunity to get it right on Saturday.

"That's the beauty of the league, we've got a game in three days' time. We know there's a big opportunity on Saturday in front of our home supporters to put things right.

"It's not doom and gloom by any means. It's very raw, that performance wasn't great on a lot of levels, but there's a lot to be positive about still.

"We'll take our medicine and make sure we're right again."
