Vitor Matos says his backroom team from former club Maritimo are on the brink of joining him at Swansea City.

Swansea have been made to wait to appoint Diogo Medeiros, Toze Mendes and Goncalo Ricca amid doubts over whether they would be cleared to work in the United Kingdom.

Head coach Matos acknowledged last week there were no guarantees the trio would work with him in Wales, with Swansea needing clearance from the Home Office and Football Association.

But the Portuguese now says his fellow countrymen should be unveiled at the Championship club before the home game against Wrexham on Friday, 19 December.

"These things are going to get sorted out," Matos said.

"[It is] nearly done… but I think everything will be finalised before the Wrexham game and we [can] then update with everything."

Swansea legends Leon Britton and Joe Allen joined the club's coaching staff on a temporary basis following the appointment of Matos as successor to Alan Sheehan last month.

The duo are set to make way for Medeiros, Matos' number two at Maritimo, as well as coaches Mendes and Ricca.

Long-serving Swansea coach Kristian O'Leary is expected to remain on the new-look staff alongside head of goalkeeping Martyn Margetson.

"It should be good [when the appointments are made]," Matos added.

"It's always good when you can have the full support of your staff and to have an idea as well to improve the club in all departments.

"I think that's what we as a club decided to do as well. We're really pleased how it has been so far and we will make it in a better way I think."

Swansea are 18th in the second tier after successive home wins over Oxford and Portsmouth.

Matos says he has a fully-fit squad for the Swans' trip to eighth-placed Stoke on Saturday.
