Sherrone Moore expected to appear in court for arraignment on Friday

JUST IN: Former Michigan Football head coach Sherrone Moore will be in court on Friday in connection to a criminal assault investigation:

Recently fired Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore will appear in court for his arraignment on Friday, Dec. 11, in connection to a possible criminal assault investigation.

Moore was initially detained by Saline police on Wednesday afternoon before being turned over to authorities in Pittsfield Township “for investigation into potential charges.” Moore remains in the Washtenaw County Jail as of Thursday afternoon.

Pittsfield Township police released a statement Wednesday night saying they responded at 4:10 p.m. to the 3000 block of Ann Arbor Saline Road “for the purposes of investigating an alleged assault. … A suspect in this case was taken into custody. This incident does not appear to be random in nature, and there appears to be no ongoing threat to the community.”

Washtenaw County Prosecutor Eli Savit then followed up that statement by making one of his own, saying the investigation is ongoing and there will be no arraignment on Thursday, Dec. 11.

“The matter involving Mr. Moore remains under active investigation by law enforcement, and as a result, we do not expect charging decisions or an arraignment today. Mr. Moore remains in custody at the Washtenaw County Jail,” the statement reads.

Now, the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office has changed that narrative, meaning they feel there is enough to formally charge the former Michigan head coach.
