Falcons versus Buccaneers game thread: Baker Mayfield looks to get out of a rut

The NFC South gets a primetime slot to kick off the week

The 7-6 Tampa Bay Buccaneers are in an essential must-win situation against the 4-9 Atlanta Falcons. Technically, the Bucs can still lose and win the division, but the margin for error would be next to nothing.

Baker Mayfield hasn’t thrown for more than 200 yards since Week 10. He’s completed under 40 percent of his passes twice since then, and has thrown four interceptions in the previous four games. It’s been ugly. Tonight could be different with Mike Evans back in action and Jalen McMillan making his season debut.

Raheem Morris is a dead man walking, it seems. The Falcons are playing out the string with him and Kirk Cousins. Atlanta won’t have Drake London again. You would think they roll over as they did in the second half last week against Seattle.

That’s not how the NFL works. Generally speaking, these teams with nothing to play for are the most dangerous at the end of the season. Add in the fact that it’s a primetime game and a divisional opponent, and the Bucs are going to get the best shot from the Falcons. It’s going to be an ugly, low-scoring game, likely decided by a field goal.

I’ll go Bucs 20-17.
