Said El-Mala tunes out distractions amid Bayern Munich transfer interest

The Köln wonderkid has been linked to FC Bayern, among other clubs.

FC Köln forward Said El Mala is enjoying a highly productive season in the Bundesliga, one which has earned him a brief call-up to the German men’s national team and a boatload of transfer attention

The latter has the potential to be seriously distracting, especially for a young player for whom improvement is paramount. And El Mala is doing his best to shut out the noise.

“I think it’s normal that when you’re a young player and you get a few goals and assists in the Bundesliga, several clubs come calling. I’m aware of that, but it doesn’t affect me. It’s a nice recognition of my performances, but I’m fully focused on Köln,” he said in recent remarks captured by @iMiaSanMia.

El Mala also confirmed that he will not move clubs in the January transfer window — although he acknowledged his future ambitions are sky-high.

“Everyone wants to play in the Champions League and for the best club, to achieve the greatest things they can. That’s what everyone in football works towards,” the 19-year-old added.

That will probably take him away from Köln soon enough. But for those opportunities to materialize, El Mala will have to keep plugging away, producing, and improving right where he is right now.
