Welcome to the tenth and final installment of this series where we look at the safety position.

As a reminder, prospects can fall into four tiers:

Committed: Just as the name implies, these are prospects that have already committed to other schools and the staff is no longer actively recruiting them.

Tier 1: Would accept their offer no matter when they are ready to commit. Reserved for the prospects at the very top of their board.

Tier 2: Prospects they are actively recruiting and would really like to have. If they were forced to choose between a prospect in tier 1 and 2 they would select tier 1, but tier 2 are very talented players who UW would have a good shot at.

Tier 3: Prospects that UW are not seriously in the running for or they are still evaluating more than actively recruiting.

Committed (1)

Khalil Terry (Tustin, CA) National Rank: 246 Position Rank: 27 Committed to Notre Dame

Not only extremely fast at top end speed, but Terry also has a quick burst to make plays all over the field. Terry was originally committed to Michigan State, but later decommitted and is now committed to Notre Dame.

Tier 3 (2)

Honor Fa’alave-Johnson (San Diego, CA) National Rank: 19 Position Rank: 1

A supremely gifted athlete, Fa’alave Johnson already has speed that would rival the fastest in the NFL. He clocked in at 22.76 MPH during a run in his sophomore season, which would be the second fastest in the NFL for 2025. He is a heavy lean to Oregon, but USC is trying to change his mind.

Semaj Stanford (Broken Arrow, OK) National Rank: 83 Position Rank: 6

He may not be the biggest on the field, nut he might be the fastest. Stanford is a fast, instinctual, and technically sound safety. The Sooners are working hard to keep him home, but are trying to fend off Alabama, Georgia, and LSU among many others.

Tier 2 (2)

Maurice Williams (Graham, WA) Position Rank: 49* (247 has him rated as a CB)

Extremely quick and a powerful tackler, Williams is a dynamic force in the secondary. He mostly plays corner now, but he has room to continue to fill out and be an athletic and rangy safety. Williams only has a couple of P4 offers to his name (Arizona State, BYU, and UW), but after his junior tape has been seen by more programs and he hits the summer camp circuit, that number could certainly spike.

Charles Roberts (Bradenton, FL) Position Rank: 34

With his physicality and strength, Roberts is able to play a hybrid of safety and LB. Not only can he deliver big hits, but he plays fearless and isn’t afraid to cover the top opposing WRs at the LOS. He recently named a top 7 that included Florida, Miami, Mizzou, North Carolina, Oregon, Tennessee, and UW. Roberts is originally from California and the staff has been building a relationship with him for quite some time.

Tier 1 (3)

Gavin Williams (La Verne, CA) National Rank: 89 Position Rank: 8

The ideal prototype FS, Williams has tremendous ball skills, closing speed, football IQ, and can deliver big hits. UW recently made his top 10 after hosting him for a game this past season and they are among the schools he said are recruiting him the hardest. Although it was a top 10, he mentioned the five schools that he is wanting to take official visits to are Notre Dame, Tennessee, Texas A&M, USC, and UW.

Isala Aisa Wily-Ava (Bellflower, CA) National Rank: 184 Position Rank: 21

If you like big, fast, and strong safeties who are also technically sound, then look no further. Wily-Ava is the complete package at the position, but he still has room to grow in his 6’2 200Lb. frame and could potentially fill out and transition into an uber-athletic LB in college instead. Either way, he has a very bright future ahead of him. Not too long ago, UW was the heavy favorite to get him in the boat early, but after a trip to Texas A&M, the Aggies have been surging. UW will be one of his favorites until the end and hopefully coach Mays can get him in the boat.

Malakai Taufoou (San Mateo, CA) Position Rank: 30

Displaying a very high football IQ, Taufoou is very disciplined and isn’t easily fooled by trick plays or misdirection. He has a nose for the ball that allows him to make big tackles or plays on the ball. The Huskies were able to get him on campus this past season and it put them in a strong position. Other schools that are standing out for him early are Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Ohio State, and Tennessee.

Thank you to those who followed along with this series! Now that the introductions have been completed for this class, please be on the lookout for the 2027 Big Board 1.0 from Aaron and I.
