Schlotterbeck seems to have issue with Karim Adeyemi and Serhou Guirassy
As you can tell by the type of content we put out on Fear the Wall, we tend not to look too much into the quotes that players give to the media, but something that Bundesliga.com picked up from Nico Schlotterbeck actually seems quite interesting to me:
“We could have moved onto 13 points today. Killing the game is a matter of quality. And then you concede the goal for 2-2 from a throw-in where you’re outnumbered and can’t clear the ball. When you come on in the 60th minute, I expect 30 minutes of full throttle. After their second goal, we didn’t have any more chances to score. We played incredibly sloppily in the last quarter of an hour. That’s not good enough in a home game.”
To me, this seems like a clear shot at Karim Adeyemi and Serhou Guirassy, right? These are the two forwards who came on around the 60th minute for Maxi Beier and Fabio Silva and, as Zac noted, were absolutely abysmal. The other substitutes didn’t play great either, but those two in particular were dreadful, and Dortmund registered a single measly shot at goal in the nearly 30 minutes after they came on.
If that indeed is what he’s talking about, then 1) I agree with him entirely, and 2) it could be a sign that the previous conflict we’ve seen between Adeyemi and Guirassy and Kovac is spreading to other players in the squad.
Borussia Dortmund News
- If Dortmund’s draw against Bodø Glimt wasn’t bad enough, there were also two critical injuries that Dortmund suffered during the game. Both Waldemar Anton and Aaron Anselmino were substituted off with thigh injuries. According to Ruhr Nachrichten, both players will miss Sunday’s match between BVB and Freiburg. However, it’s less clear whether they will play the following game against Mönchengladbach on December 19th. That makes it sound like the injuries aren’t super serious, but we’re probably still going to have to wait for more information to come out.
- Marcel Sabitzer, who missed Wednesday’s match with an injury, will be a game-day decision against Freiburg.

- Niclas Füllkrug could potentially return to the Bundesliga, but his transfer to Wolfsburg from West Ham is being held up due to internal disputes at Wolfsburg. Would you take him at Dortmund again?
