The 6 Georgia transfers in the College Football Playoff

Six Georgia transfers made the College Football Playoff. All six of them will play in the first-round with four of them in one game

The Georgia Bulldogs made the College Football Playoff as the No. 3 seed. Georgia will have the first-round off, where there will be six Georgia transfers playing.

Four Georgia transfers will play in the No. 10 Miami Hurricanes at No. 7 Texas A&M Aggies game at noon ET on Saturday, Dec. 20. Miami quarterback Carson Beck headlines the Georgia transfers in the playoff. He has the largest role of any UGA transfer in the playoff and will be making his first playoff start after missing Georgia's Sugar Bowl last season due to an elbow injury.

Beyond Beck, Texas A&M has three Georgia transfers. The Aggies could need kicker Jared Zirkel to come through with a big kick in the playoff. Cornerback Julio Humphrey and linebacker Sam M'Pemba both have smaller roles for Texas A&M and aren't expected to play much.

The other Georgia transfers in the playoff are a pair of two-time transfers. Oklahoma Sooner defensive lineman Marvin Jones spent one season at Florida State before ending up with the Sooners for the 2025 season. Oregon Ducks defensive lineman Bear Alexander spent two years at USC before transferring to Oregon. Both Jones and Alexander have significant roles as rotational defensive linemen for their respective schools.

Beck and Miami snuck in the playoff as the No. 10 seed. Miami will play Texas A&M in the first-round, which has three Georgia transfers, but they all have far less significant roles than Beck.

Beck has the No. 11 QBR in the country at 80.6 and struggled with six interceptions combined in Miami's two losses. He will be making his first career playoff appearance as a starter. Last season, he suffered an elbow injury and could not play in the Sugar Bowl with Georgia.

Stats: 3,072 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns and 10 interceptions

Linebacker Sam M'Pemba, Texas A&M

M'Pemba has played in just three games this season for Texas A&M. He has not played in one game against a Power Four opponent, which highlights his small role with the team. M'Pemba posted a sack and a forced fumble this season against Utah State.

Stats: Two tackles, one sack and one forced fumble

Defensive lineman Marvin Jones, Oklahoma

Jones transferred to Florida State for the 2024 season before transferring to Oklahoma for this year. He has appeared in all 12 Oklahoma games in 2025. He's part of Oklahoma's regular defensive line rotation. Jones and the Sooners have the No. 9 total defense in the country at 273.6 yards per game. The Sooners simply have one of the best defenses in the country and hold their opponents to an average of 13.9 points per game (No. 7 in the nation).

Stats: 19 tackles, one sack and one pass deflection

Kicker Jared Zirkel, Texas A&M

Texas A&M Aggies place kicker Jared Zirkel (99) prepares to kick the football

Jared Zirkel is in a kicking competition with the struggling Randy Bond. Zirkel started at kicker in Texas A&M's loss to Texas, but he went just one of two. He has not started for the Aggies for most of the season, but Bond has made just 61.1% of his kicks this season, so Zirkel could start in the playoff.

Stats: Four of six field games, 19-20 on extra points

Cornerback Julio Humphrey, Texas A&M

Former Georgia cornerback Julio Humphrey (formerly Julian Humphrey) has appeared in 10 games for the Aggies this season. He does not have a huge role for Texas A&M and is a reserve defensive back.

Stats: Seven tackles and one pass deflection

Defensive lineman Bear Alexander, Oregon

Oregon Ducks defensive lineman Bear Alexander celebrates a fumble recovery

Alexander transferred to USC after Georgia won the 2022-2023 national championship. He then transferred to Oregon, in controversial fashion, after redshirting in 2024.

Oregon coach Dan Lanning has managed to get the best out of Alexander. Oregon has the No. 20 run defense in the country (107.2 yards per game) and Alexander is a significant reason why.

Stats: 45 tackles, 1/2 sack, two fumble recoveries and one pass deflection
