In addition, Karr boasts several Division I signees, including defensive tackle Richard Anderson (LSU), while starting quarterback John Johnson has accounted for nearly 3,300 yards of total offense and 45 touchdowns.

As for St. Aug, the Purple Knights are in their first state title game since 1979. The No. 3 seed entering the bracket, St. Aug is 12-1 and finally made the title game with a semifinal win last week against perennial stalwart John Curtis Christian.

St. Aug also has a big-time quarterback in Vashuan Coulon, who has thrown for more than 3,000 yards and 40 TDs.

Karr has won the last three meetings against St. Augustine, including a 42-21 win in the regular season, which was the lone loss suffered by the Purple Knights.

FIRST QUARTER

- St. Aug gets past midfield before its opening drive stalls. Purple Knights punt it away and Karr returns it for an 85-yard TD, but it is called back due to a blindside block. Scoreless with 6:43 left in the first.

- Karr can't take advantage of the tremendous field position and has to punt, but is able to down it at the 3, and that's where St. Aug will start its opening series.

- Toe meets leather and we're off and running from the Dome. Karr breaks off a long return and the Cougars are already in Purple Knights' territory.

PREGAME

- Edna Karr has won the toss and elects to receive.

- Both teams have taken the field. We're about to get this thing kicked off.

- Electric atmosphere already in the Dome. Still a few minutes away and there is a large crowd there. They have just opened up the second deck of the Dome and some fans are sitting there.

- Live from the Caesars Superdome, it’s the final game of the LHSAA Prep Classic, and it should be a good one. The No. 1 seeded and defending state champion Cougars of Edna Karr get set to face No. 3 seed St. Augustine for the Division I Select state championship.
