Kansas City, here come the Cats.
The Kentucky Wildcats volleyball team is headed to the Final Four!
With a big matchup in Historic Memorial Coliseum tonight against the 3-seeded Creighton Bluejays, Craig Skinner’s squad picked up another sweep as they dominated the Elite Eight matchup Saturday night.
The match started off as a tight one, as the Cats and Bluejays traded punches in Set 1 until around the media timeout. From that point on, the Cats cruised to a win in set 1, 25-19. Then they came out and dominated set 2, 25-13.
With all the marbles on the line and a trip to Kansas City staring them straight in the face, UK had to fight off some early momentum in set 3 from Creighton. With some quick adjustments, the Cats then flipped the switch and dominated the rest of the set, winning 25-18.
Known for their offense all season, tonight the Cats really flashed their defensive ability as well. With nothing coming easy for Creighton on offense and Eva Hudson and Brooklyn DeLeye continuing their dominance on the outside, it was a fairly easy win for the Cats.
Now, they will await the winner of the match between the Texas Longhorns and the Wisconsin Badgers. With two wins over Texas already this season, seeing them a third time would not be ideal. However, at this point, you gotta beat who is in front of you, and it’s clear this team has the firepower to go against anyone.
Congrats to Coach Skinner and his team. Time to go win title No. 2.
Go Cats!
