CHARLOTTE (CAROLINA SPORTS LIVE) — When you have an eye for fashion like Jes Morse, there is no such thing as leaving the shop talk back at the office.

“We could be walking to lunch,” said admits. “We would be like, ‘Wow! That blue is off.’ It’s very much ingrained in our head.”

It’s now ingrained in mine too. You see, there are many shades of blue in the world, but only one that truly represents the brand that is the Carolina Panthers.

“PMS processed blue,” she said of the official name. “That is the color.”

When you spend time with Morse, the retail and stadium marketing manager for Tepper Sports and Entertainment, you begin to understand that the little things matter. It’s ultimately how she and her staff decide what makes it to shelves and what never sees the light of day.

“Just seeing it all come together and marketing it,” she said. “It is great bringing it to life.”

It starts with an idea and it better fit all the dos and do nots behind the sanctity of the brand.

“I like the guidelines,” she explains. “Because this is who the brands are.”

Then it’s a matter of finding the right dance partner. One that reaches a different audience than, say, the fan wanting to buy a Bryce Young Jersey from Nike.

“Not something that you can wear to a game but something you can wear out,” Morse says.

And so you end up with Panthers merchandise from companies like Lululemon and Peter Millar.

“The league’s listen,” Morse says. “They know. They see the data and are able to sign deals with brands that we are able to work with and bring their merch in. It’s just great for everyone.”

Within a year, products are in stores, ready for purchase. Ready to be further scrutinized by the always critical Morse.

“Our blue is so important to our brand and we want to make sure it’s correct.”

Her work is never done. And that apparently, is just the way she likes it.
