Not a great day in State Farm Center.
We all know at this point that it was disappointing how Illinois lost to Nebraska on Saturday at the buzzer.
But Brad Underwood went viral after the loss when he explained why he sent freshman David Mirkovic to the bench.
“David was in Serbia today,” Underwood said. “He wasn’t in this building… I couldn’t play him. Couldn’t put him in the game. What’s the old Bob Knight quote? Ass to bench, bench to brain?”
Pretty strong words from BU on the freshman, who has been quite impressive to start his first season in the U.S.
But Mirk had 4 points, 2 rebounds and 3 turnovers in 24 minutes on Saturday — not the most impressive afternoon.
We’ll see if BU makes any changes when the Illini face off against Missouri next weekend.
