Chelsea legend John Terry has labelled Cole Palmer as the best number ten in the world following Saturday’s win against Everton.

The Blues ended a four game winless run in all competitions with a much needed 2-0 win against the Toffees at Stamford Bridge.

Palmer opened the scoring with a well taken goal, before Malo Gusto doubled the lead just before half time, whilst Alejandro Garnacho was guilty of squandering a couple of good opportunities.

John Terry hails Palmer as best in the world

The former Man City star has had a stop start beginning of the season having had a groin issue which kept him out him out for over two months.

The England international returned to action against Leeds, and started against Bournemouth before being rested for the trip to Atalanta.

Palmer started against Everton and put in a good performance before being replaced by Andrey Santos just before the hour mark.

The 23-year-old was much better than he was against Bournemouth, and Terry believes he’s the best number ten in the world.

“I was also delighted to have Cole Palmer back in the team and playing in that number ten role,” he said on TikTok.

“I’m not sure there’s anyone better in world football playing in the number ten role. If there is Palmer certainly gives them a run for their money.

“He’s so brave, constantly on the half turn trying to get in those little pockets. It’s a defender’s nightmare when you come up against a player like that.”

Malo Gusto puts in impressive performance

It wasn’t just Palmer who impressed, Gusto also produced arguably his best performance since joining the club from Lyon in 2023.

The France international got a goal and assist and was everywhere, showing that he’s really starting to get to grips with the system and what’s being asked of him tactically.

It’s unlikely either Gusto or Palmer will start against Cardiff on Tuesday night, but they will likely both feature next weekend against Newcastle.
