The Green Bay Packers play the Broncos in Denver this week. Here is what the game means for their NFC playoff picture.
The Green Bay Packers are currently in second place in the NFC and first place in the NFC North, but they travel to Denver to take on the surging Broncos on Sunday. Denver has won 10 straight games to move into first place in the AFC and in the process they ended the Kansas City Chiefs’ reign atop the AFC West.
The Packers have won four straight games including two straight over divisional opponents in playoff contention. After two losses where they scored a combined 20 points, they’ve dropped 23 points or more points in those four wins.
Despite the game being in Mile High Stadium, the Packers are favored by a point.

The Green Bay Packers passed the Chicago Bears after beating them last Sunday. The Detroit Lions are just outside the playoff picture after their Week 14 win. The Minnesota Vikings shut out the Commanders last week and have not been eliminated from the division race.
There is a scenario where the Packers can clinch the division in Week 16 with a win over the Bears. A Green Bay win this week and next week moves them to 11 wins, making their worst possible record 11-5-1. If Chicago loses to the Browns this week and the Packers next week, they will have six losses so their best record would be 11-6, behind the Packers. The Lions would need to lose to either the Rams in Week 15 or the Steelers in Week 16 to get to six losses, as well.
1. Green Bay Packers (9-3-1)
2. Chicago Bears (9-4)
3. Detroit Lions (8-5)
4. Minnesota Vikings (5-7)
Current NFC playoff picture
With a Packers win and a Rams loss, Green Bay can move into first place in the NFC. Los Angeles plays the Lions on Sunday afternoon in what should be a very entertaining game. While the Packers want to be in first place, L.A. knocking off a division opponent wouldn’t be the worst outcome for Green Bay.
The Chicago Bears host the Cleveland Browns.
- Los Angeles Rams 10-3
- Green Bay Packers 9-3-1
- Philadelphia Eagles 8-5
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers 7-6
- Seattle Seahawks 10-3
- San Francisco 49ers 9-4
- Chicago Bears 9-4
- Detroit Lions 8-5
- Carolina Panthers 7-6
- Dallas Cowboys 6-6-1
