Penn State tabbed Matt Campbell to usher in the next era of Nittany Lions football.
He’s bringing 2026 quarterback Kase Evans with him to Happy Valley.
Days after being released from his letter of intent, Evans committed to play for Campbell at State College.
The 2026 quarterback from Lexington (Texas) High School is ecstatic to play for Campbell and is a fit for the culture his coach is establishing at Penn State.
“Coach Campbell is so sincere when he talks to you. I can just tell he truly cares,'” Evans told Rivals of his decision to head to Penn State.
“He and his coaches have a belief in me that makes me want to prove them right and run through the door they’ve opened for me,” he continued. “I’m ready to get up there in a few weeks and get to work!”
Penn State became an option for Evans as soon as Campbell arrived.
Campbell was quick to pounce on Rivals’ No. 50 QB in the 2026 class shortly after backing off his commitment to Oklahoma State midway through his senior season — after a coaching change was made in Stillwater.
After officially visiting Ames, Evans committed to play for Campbell and the Cyclones.

“I was going to Iowa State because of Coach Campbell and his culture, as well as their offense that I liked. Coach Waters, Hoodjer and Mouser were great to me also,” Evans told Rivals this week. “Happened at Oklahoma State and now at Iowa State. Different circumstances I know, but it’s the same end result. Everything happens for a reason.”
Evans was absolutely right.
Penn State inked two prospects during the Early Signing Period, including 2026 QB Peyton Falzone. Evans gives the Nittany Lions a third — and will be a mid-year graduate ready to get to work before too long.
As a senior the 6-foot-3, 200-pound Evans threw for 2,945 yards and 34 TD with 559 yards on the ground and 6 more TD. A four-year varsity starter, he passed for 11,640 yards and 120 TD.
He is the No. 50 QB in the country and the No. 101 overall prospect from the state of Texas.
