Egypt & Nigeria have both intensified their preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with high-profile friendly scheduled for Tuesday night at Cairo International Stadium.

Serving as final rehearsal before the tournament kicks off in Morocco.

The Pharaohs led by head coach Hossam Hassan held their latest training session at the Cairo Stadium as they fine-tune their plans for the continental showpiece which begins on 21 December and runs until 18 January 2026.

Egypt Complete final test before Departure to Morocco

Egypt will host Nigeria at 18:00 GMT on Tuesday in what represents their last friendly ahead of AFCON 2025. The Egyptian delegation set to travel to Morocco immediately after the game.

Egypt have been drawn in Group B where they will face:

  • Zimbabwe
  • South Africa
  • Angola

The 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations will be staged in Morocco featuring 24 team.

Nigeria begin Cairo Camp ahead of Egypt Clash

Nigeria’s build-up to AFCON 2025 officially got underway in Cairo on Sunday with several players reporting to the Super Eagles’ camp.

Midfielders Fisayo Dele-Bashiru & Akinsanmiro Ebenezer joined goalkeepers Francis Uzoho & Stanley Nwabali bringing the early camp attendance to four player as more arrivals are expected in the coming hours.

The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed that the technical and backroom staff were already fully assembled as preparations entered their final phase.

Nwabali’s return boosts Nigeria Goalkeeping unit

First-choice goalkeeper Nwabali arrived later in the day easing recent concerns over his fitness following ankle & hand issues.

His inclusion in Eric Chelle’s final 28 man AFCON squad reflects the coaching staff’s confidence in his recovery. The 29 year old has been Nigeria’s undisputed No1 since AFCON 2023 where he helped the Super Eagles reach the final.
