The Los Angeles Rams notched a win and retained their top spot in the NFC, they are going to playoffs too.
The Los Angeles Rams beat the Detroit Lions by a final score of 41-34 in what was a hard fought and tough game between two teams. Both franchises were expected to be stout going into the season, and in Week 15, they did not disappoint.
Matthew Stafford didn’t have his best day as he threw an interception, and the Lions were able to convert that turnover into points, but Stafford did his best to bounce back from the mistake. Overall, the Rams and Stafford were able to move the ball on offense, but L.A.‘s defense had a hard time with Detroit’s skill position players, and you could argue that Jared Goff had a better day than Stafford, but Stafford got the win.
The game was basically a shootout from front to back with both team’s having high powered offenses, and both defenses making some stops, but overall today’s game was an offensive duel more than a defensive one.
Kyren Williams had two rushing scores for L.A., Stafford found Colby Parkinson later in the game for his first throwing score, and Harrison Mevis continued to keep his job security as he delivered on his kicks for another week.
It was late in the third quarter when the Rams had a 27-24 lead, and stopped the Lions on offense to give L.A. the chance to go up a couple scores, and potentially put the game out of reach.
It would be Blake Corum who ended up punching in a touchdown for the Rams, and L.A. led 34-24 after the successful extra point with under one-minute to go in the third quarter.
L.A.’s defense forced another Detroit punt as the fourth quarter started, and if the Rams could score again, they were looking like they could wrap this up, and punch their ticket to the playoffs.
What happened instead, is that Davantae Adams seemed to suffer an injury on that series, the severity was not clear, but the Rams punted back to the Lions giving Detroit a chance to stay in this game, and potentially take the win from L.A.
Adams did seem to leave the game.
The defense responded again to hold Detroit to a field goal, and the score was a tight 34-27 with under 8-minutes to go in regulation.
The Rams were moving the ball when Puka Nacua went down, and similar to Adams, it was unclear the severity (the broadcast said it may just been cramps and he did return to the game), and the Rams scored when Colby Parkinson caught his second TD of the game, and the Rams were up 41-27 with under 5-minutes to go in the fourth.
The Lions kept themselves alive with another TD, and the score was 41-34, and the Rams didn’t put the game away on offense as they punted the ball back to Detroit, and Goff had 13-second left to try and make something happen.
The Rams closed out the game with a final score 0f 41-34 and retain their top spot in the NFC as they prepare for a gargantuan Thursday night game against the Seattle Seahawks. The Rams also have secured a spot in the playoffs as their strong ‘25 season continues.
