With their 34-26 victory over the Green Bay Packers, the Denver Broncos improved to 12-2 on the year, won their 11th straight game, and beat one of the better teams in the NFC. On top of all that, the Broncos officially clinched a spot in the NFL postseason for a second straight season after suffering through a long playoff drought which ended last season.

The Broncos’ magical season continues with a postseason berth, but they have much larger goals that they are chasing after. With the New England Patriots blowing a large lead in the second half, they fell to 11-3 on the year and now trail the Broncos in the race for the number 1 seed. We also keep a two-game lead over the Chargers with three to go, as the Chargers officially eliminated the Chiefs earlier today.

Next up for the Broncos is a home game vs. a very hot Jacksonville Jaguars team. We will get clinching scenarios later this week, but a win over the Jags and losses by the Patriots and Chargers could lock all but lock things up for the Broncos.

While we are in the middle of this magical ride, we need to take a step back and enjoy what is happening right now. After Peyton rode off into the sunset after Super Bowl 50, we have dealt with some very dark times. However, things changed last season when Head Coach Sean Payton started to turn the Broncos in the right direction, and rookie quarterback Bo Nix started to flash real potential. They locked themselves into the postseason last year in the finale vs. the Chiefs, who were resting their starters. but were quickly one-and-done in the playoffs.

One year later, after a tough 1-2 start that included two walk-off field goal losses and a leverage penalty, the Broncos have now won 11-straight games. Quarterback Bo Nix is looking like the real deal in year two, Vance Joseph has this defense playing at a high level, and Sean Payton has this team firing on all cylinders as we near the postseason.

Next up: Clinching the AFC West, followed by clinching the one seed in the AFC.
