Scottie Scheffler has joined rarefied company with Tiger Woods.
The PGA Tour announced on Monday the world No. 1 claimed the Jack Nicklaus Award as the PGA Tour Player of the Year.
Scheffler, a 19-time Tour winner who won six times in 2025, including two majors – the PGA Championship and The Open Championship – is just the second player to win the award four or more consecutive times, joining only Woods, who did so from 1999-2003.
“There's nothing you can't not like about Scottie,” Woods said recently at the Hero World Challenge. “What he's doing on the golf course is just incredible, the consistency day in and day out, the strategy that he -- how he attacks the golf course. It starts from you can see him analyze it from the green back where the flag is, where he wants to miss a tee shot, what club to hit, where the wind is, what side of the tee box he's to start off on. It's truly amazing at how thoughtful he is and strategic he is throughout the entire round.”
“Scottie’s consistent level of success has been nothing short of spectacular as he continues to chase history on the PGA Tour, and we’re excited to see what he will deliver in 2026,” added PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp in a press release.
The Player of the Year award is determined by a member vote, with Tour members who played in at least 15 official FedEx Cup events during the 2025 season eligible to vote. For the first time, members voted via PGA Tour Central, the Tour’s new player app and website, with the voting period running from December 4-12.
Scheffler earned the Jack Nicklaus Award over three other nominees: Tommy Fleetwood, Ben Griffin and Rory McIlroy.
After being sidelined early in the season due to a freak hand injury on Christmas, Scheffler clamed his first victory of the season at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, matching the low 72-hole score on the PGA Tour (since 1983) with his 31-under 253 total. Two weeks later, he notched his third career major title at the PGA Championship, winning by five at Quail Hollow Club.
At the Memorial Tournament, Scheffler became the first player since Tiger Woods (1999-2001) to successfully defend his title at Muirfield Village Golf Club with a four-stroke victory.
He added a second major championship title at The Open Championship, completing the third leg of the career Grand Slam with his victory at Royal Portrush Golf Club.
Scheffler’s fifth victory of the season came in exciting fashion at the BMW Championship, where he chipped in on the par-3 17th hole to survive a weekend duel with Robert MacIntyre at Caves Valley Golf Club. He took the FedEx Cup standings lead into the following week’s Tour Championship for the fourth consecutive year, eventually finishing T-4.
Scheffler captured his 19th career Tour title at the Procore Championship, winning in his tournament debut for the first time.
The Dallas native received the Byron Nelson Award for the lowest Scoring Average on Tour (68.131) for the third year in a row. He ranked first in scoring average in Round 1 (67.45), Round 2 (68.00), Round 3 (68.40) and Round 4 (68.10), becoming the first player since Tiger Woods (2000) to lead the Tour in all four categories in a single season.
Scheffler finished inside the top 25 in all 20 starts, with a season-high 17 top-10 finishes (including 15 straight) and no missed cuts. He led the Tour in Strokes Gained: Tee to Green (2.361), Strokes Gained: Approach the Green (1.291) and Strokes Gained: Total (2.743).
Scheffler was surprised with the award during an appearance on ESPN’s Pat McAfee Show.
